Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara. The conservation area contains many interesting features such as active volcanoes, mountains, archaeological sites, rolling plains, forests, lakes, dunes, the Ngorongoro Crater and Oldupai Gorge.

Ngorongoro Crater

The crater is the main feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is the largest unbroken caldera in the world measuring 610m deep and has an area of 2602 km. It is a microcosm of east African scenery and is widely considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world.

Wildlife that can be seen in the crater are: leopard, zebra, cheetah, hippo, hyena, lion, rhino, warthog, buffalo, hartebeest and eland gazelle.
